European Chapter Meeting

The next IAMFA meeting of the European Chapter will be held in Paris at the Grand Palais on Friday 23rd March 2012. It is anticipated that everyone will congregate on the evening of Thursday 22nd March at 19:00 hrs to have a meal and networking session. Marie-Pierre Marche has very generously offered to host the meeting at the Grand Palais. The proposed agenda is for a presentation on the Grand Palais followed by a tour of the building and exhibition. Lunch will be followed by two presentations; digital storage vs physical storage - at the Bibliothèque nationale de France, then application of industrial air conditioning in the new building of the National Archives. Finally, If we are lucky a visit to the Musée d'Orsay later in the afternoon.

The renovation of the Grand Palais, estimated at 300 M  €, provides for the improvement of public reception, the extension of exhibition galleries, the compliance of facilities and restoration of the monument. It is scheduled over 10 years.

Since the presentation to Auckland in November, the Board of December 15, 2011, approved the master plan. We are in the programming of the project to launch an international architectural competition in April 2012.
